La bande originale d’Arc Rise Fantasia a bien failli ne jamais voir le jour. Développé par le studio japonais Imageepoch, ce RPG sur Wii était sorti en juin 2009 au Japon avec un CD promotionnel comprenant treize morceaux. Malgré la présence prestigieuse de Yasunori Mitsuda à la production sonore et à la composition, les mois passèrent sans qu’aucune OST ne soit annoncée. Finalement, après de nombreuses demandes de la part des fans, TEAM Entertainment décida de prendre en charge la publication de ce triple album au début de l’année 2010. Outre la présence de Mitsuda, qui a composé une vingtaine de morceaux, l’équipe musicale d’Arc Rise Fantasia compte dans ses rangs Shunsuke Tsuchiya de Procyon Studio et Yuki Harada, un musicien avait peu travaillé pour le jeu vidéo auparavant. On compte aussi des reprises d’une composition de Yôko Shimomura pour Luminous Arc 2.
Le style général de la bande originale est plutôt orchestral, avec quelques touches exotiques et les interventions malgré tout assez rares d’instruments enregistrés en studio tels que le violon ou la flûte irlandaise. Les approches des trois compositeurs se recoupent et créent ainsi un ensemble homogène. La routine des pistes instrumentales est néanmoins brisée par la présence de courts morceaux chantés, interprétés principalement par Yui Makino, la doubleuse de l’héroïne du jeu, Ryfia. Makino a également composé la chanson de fin, «Angel Stairs», dans un style doux fidèle au reste de la bande originale.
