La série Kid Icarus revient ici avec ce troisième épisode que 20 ans séparent de son aîné, alors sorti sur Game Boy. Connu pour le soin qu’il apporte à ses titres, le réalisateur Masahiro Sakurai a réuni plusieurs grands noms de la musique de jeux japonais autour de ce projet. Ce nouveau volet est également l’occasion d’entendre plusieurs thèmes emblématiques de la série composés par Hirokazu Tanaka, ancien compositeur historique de Nintendo. Étant donné la grandiloquence de la mise en scène et le ton déjanté de l’univers du jeu, les musiques sont à la fois très épiques et teintées de touches humoristiques. Les orchestrations, très nombreuses, sont signées Natsumi Kameoka, employée du studio Procyon et fidèle alliée de Yasunori Mitsuda depuis plusieurs années. La totalité des voix du jeu et des instruments ont d’ailleurs été enregistrés au sein de Procyon.
