La formule n’a guère changé pour le troisième épisode de la série Etrian Odyssey, connue sous le nom de Sekaiju no Meikyû au Japon. Pour composer la bande originale, les développeurs d’Atlus ont une nouvelle fois fait appel à Yûzô Koshiro, qui s’est servi de son vieil ordinateur PC-8801 pour écrire des musiques volontairement teintées de nostalgie. Comme dans les deux précédents épisodes, le déroulement du jeu a mené Koshiro à distinguer clairement les musiques des villes, des labyrinthes à explorer et des combats. Mais pour s’accorder à l’environnement marin inédit d’Etrian Odyssey III, il a développé un imaginaire plus aquatique (dans les premiers labyrinthes notamment) et, surtout, exotique. Explorant toujours plus profondément les limites de son synthétiseur à modulateur de fréquence, il a en effet réussi à apporter une touche chaleureuse aux différents thèmes des villes. De leur côté, les pistes de combat sont toujours aussi rythmées.

Comme pour les deux premiers Etrian Odyssey, la maison de disques 5pb. Records a offert au troisième épisode un album arrangé dans lequel les mélodies de Koshiro sont cette fois-ci reprises par les jeunes musiciens du studio Basiscape, de Hitoshi Sakimoto.
